From trailer to flight.

Rigging the Jabiru UL450

First thing is to get the aircraft out of the trailer.  It's amazing it fits in - not the plane but Les!

Here's the fuselage of the plane, note the elevator is part of the main body.

When the wings are removed the flaps can drop and can break the rear window, so the best approach is to remove the flaps, (as in the photo above) as this only requires an additional 4x 10mm bolts.

The first part of the assembly is to bolt on the jury struts,  these are fitted with 2x 13mm bolts. The starboard Jury strut has the Pito tube, and this needs to be connected at the bottom.

Next step is to align the wings and bolt them to the fuselage using 2x 12mm bolts. The aileron control cables are fed into the cockpit and the port wing's stall warning device is connected.

Once the wings are connected at the fuselage, the wing can be lifted into place, and the other end of the jury strut can also be connected.

The jury strut has aerodynamic covers on both ends that need to be fitted using self tapping screws and bolts.

Here the port wing top jury strut covers are being fitted. Similar aerodynamic covers are also fitted to the top and bottom of the wings at the fuselage end.

Inside the aileron control cables are connected to the central mounted control column using 2x 10mm bolts, and retaining clips.

The whole process takes less than an hour, and you are now ready to fly.

.......... Alternatively, you can park it outside with some covers on ;-).
